About AWF
The African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) works with the people of Africa to ensure the wildlife and
wild lands of Africa will endure forever. Founded 47 years ago to improve the capacity of African
institutions and individuals to manage wildlife and other natural resources, its program has evolved
over the decades into an integrated large cohesive landscape program addressing sustainable natural
resource management and livelihood improvement for the poorest.
AWF works in eight large conservation landscapes across 14 countries in sub-Saharan Africa, many of
which intersect with three countries. It also has a transboundary conservation landscape under
development in West Africa.
