The world’s largest multilateral funder of projects to improve the global environment, protecting the oceans, forests, soils and wildlife around the world Gustavo A.B. da Fonseca, Ph.D., Team Leader, Natural Resources, Global Environment Facility Brennan Van Dyke, Senior Advisor to the CEO, Global Environment Facility Partners: Global Environment Facility The Global Environment Facility is the largest financial organization in the world providing grants to deliver global environmental benefits. In facilitating global conservation projects on the ground, it is one of the most effective foreign policy investments of the United States: for every U.S. dollar invested, about 24 dollars are leveraged from taxpayers of other countries and from sources of project co-financing. The U.S. strongly influences GEF strategies and programming, offering a very cost-effective means to bring large amounts of money to U.S. priorities and goals nationally and globally. GEF efforts protect the environment across national borders and social divisions, establishing stable markets for American businesses and protecting our markets at home from flooding by illegal products.
