Strategy
The ICCF recognizes that in order to pave the way to sustainable global consumption, chief decision makers across all disciplines need to be involved. By uniting leaders in government, corporations, NGOs, and the scientific community, we can find common ground and establish a network strong enough to solve the world's natural resource challenges.

• Engaging a strong bipartisan coalition of policymakers and their staffs to address matters of sound natural resource management—an issue of great importance to all Americans, regardless of political ideology. Natural resources are the foundation of the global economy, and management of our natural wealth is directly connected to the U.S.’s primary policy interests: national security, the economy, and the wellbeing of Americans.
• Assembling and supporting a strong network of conservation experts to educate Members of Congress, thereby enabling them to formulate sound market-based policies that promote sound Natural Resource Wealth Management™. ICCF provides the framework to link legislators, leaders of industry, and NGOs so that public and private sector actors can share information and better leverage one another’s efforts. ICCF’s Partners in Conservation collaboration consists of more than 50 leading organizations with scientific and technical expertise in developing and managing conservation programs in the field.
• Focusing on the human benefits of good conservation policy and advancing awareness of the value of natural capital. Decision-makers must be provided with the tools and methods to measure the impact of conservation and sustainable development strategies in order to maximize economic opportunity, growth, and nature’s benefits to people.
• Championing cross-sector partnerships between U.S. and foreign governments, civil society, and corporations. Given the global scale of the natural resource challenges we face, the public and private sectors must leverage one another’s technical expertise, experience, and resources to promote sound management of natural resources worldwide. Our U.S. Congressional Briefing Series highlights the effectiveness of public-private partnerships and presents Congress with updates on the most successful conservation strategies.
